Transplantation Criteria for HCC
- One lesion <=6cm
- Three lesions or less with the largest one <=5cm and the total volume can not exceed 9 cm
- YES - we can downsize and still transplant!
Transplant Criteria for Cholangiocarcinoma
- Less than 3 cm
- Do not biopsy these patients because those who have been biopsied are not transplant candidates.
- Patients with small cholangiocarcinomas who complete the Mayo protocol and undergo liver transplantation have a 75% 5 year survival.
