Dr. Klintmalm has served as the director of Transplantation Services at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas since 1984, where he has developed one of the largest and most reputable liver, kidney, and pancreatic transplantation services in the world. He is an internationally recognized pioneer in liver transplantation and authority in kidney transplantation, immunosuppression and organ preservation. Dr. Klintmalm is President of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He has served on more than 25 national medical committees, and as principal investigator of in-numerable national and international research projects. In addition, Dr. Klintmalm has been appointed Associated Editor of the American Journal of Transplantation and to 12 editorial boards. He is the author or co-author of more than 600 publications in transplantations. Dr. Klintmalm is the co-editor of the principal textbook in liver transplantation and has published 4 other textbooks, written 33 text book chapters, 309 peer reviewed journals, and 73 non-peer reviewed journals. Dr. Klintmalm has been a transplant surgeon since 1978. A recognized leader in the field of transplantation for over 20 years, Dr. Klintmalm is currently the principal investigator for 21 major studies and sub-investigator for 10, 7 of which are sponsored by the National Institute of Health.
